Over 1,200 customers were left without electricity in Ennis yesterday after a “third party” severed a power line while cutting down a tree.

It is understood that a man had been cutting down a tree at the rear of his home on the outskirts of Ennis at the time of the incident. The man was uninjured.

Crews had to drive through the homeowner’s gardens to gain access to the affected cable. Power was quickly restored to all but 104 customers.
