Today is the closing day for the return of Central Applications Office (CAO) application forms for entry to universities and third-level colleges.
The National Youth Council of Ireland said in a statement that fundamental reform of the entire Leaving Certificate and points system must be introduced this year.
NYCI director Mr Peter Byrne said the current points system, which is being reviewed by a commission, "places too much pressure on young people.
