Three men are due in court in Co Louth this morning charged with murder of a 28-year-old man.

Gardai investigating the killing of Mr Russell Deane (28) in Drogheda last February arrested the three last night. They were due before Dundalk District Court at 10 a.m.

Gardai believe the killing incident was related to a domestic dispute.

Mr Deane, of Elmwood, Drogheda, originally from Skerries, in north Co Dublin, died from serious injuries, including head wounds, after being beaten with a pick-axe in the sitting-room of the house he was renting in the Elmwood estate.

In a search of the immediate area after the death gardaí recovered a pick-axe and two wooden bats, which they believe were the weapons used by the gang.
