The remaining criminal charge against George Redmond has been dropped by the State.
A jury at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court failed to reach a verdict at his trial last month on the charge that Mr Redmond received a £10,000 bribe from the late Fianna Fáil councillor Patrick Dunne "as an inducement" in respect of a compulsory purchase order (CPO).
The charge related to a CPO on 167 acres of land at Buzzardstown and Coolmine, in north west Dublin when he was assistant city and county manager.
The jury in that trial had earlier found Mr Redmond not guilty of receiving the money from Mr Dunne "as a reward for showing favour to another" in relation to the CPO.
Pauline Walley SC told Judge Katherine Delahunt today that the Director of Public Prosecutions had instructed her to enter a
nolle prosequion the outstanding charge.
