Joe Crede homered and made two outstanding run-saving plays as the Chicago White Sox beat Houston Astros 5-3 in game one of Baseball's World Series.

Astros pitcher Roger Clemens lasted just two innings, conceding three runs and four hits.

The 43-year-old - the second oldest pitcher to start a World Series game - threw 54 pitches and left with a hamstring injury.

White Sox's Cuban pitcher Jose Contreras pitched seven innings and had two strikeouts.
