Third time lucky as family-run shop sells €9.5m winning lotto ticket

Campbells Spar on the corner of of Talbot Street and Amiens Street

The lucky shop that sold the weekend’s €9.5m jackpot winning lotto ticket in Dublin has in the past sold two other winning tickets.

The hunt is now on to find the lucky winner who bought the ticket in the Spar located on the corner of Talbot Street and Amiens Street.

The shop is a family run business which has been in the Campbell family for over thirty years.

“This is our third big win for the shop; we have been in business for over thirty years. The other winning ticks sold were for €1.2m and the other was another big one some years ago when my father-in-law was running the shop. I can’t remember for how much but it was big,” said owner Ulrika Campbell.

There were big crowds in the capital on Saturday due to the Mayo and Kerry All Ireland semi -final, but Mrs Campbell is hoping that the big win is one of her regular customers.

“It would be great if the ticket was bought by one of our regular customers as it would be exciting for the area, but I will be happy for whoever won the money. It’s a life-changing sum of money so I wish them the very best of luck and all the happiness in the world,” she said.

Mrs Campbell, who is originally from Germany, said she may have sold the ticket, or it could have been her colleague Anna Horvat (26).

“The winning ticket was a €5 quick pick but the ticket has not yet been claimed, so people may not even know their good fortune as of yet.

The winning numbers were: 1, 16, 17, 32, 34, 35. The bonus number was 5.

The lucky winner will collect a cheque for €9,485,078.
