Ireland's sole representative in the Olympic mountain-biking dropped out of the final this morning, suffering from exhaustion.

Robin Seymour started well and was 13th out of 50 at one stage, but he soon dropped back in the field as the heat took its toll, eventually pulling out on the second lap of five.

The Wicklow cyclist was reportedly recovering well.

Frenchman Julien Absalon was a comfortable winner of the event, arriving home in a time of one hour 55 minutes and 59 seconds (1:55:59).
