A judicial review of a case in which a man faces 21 charges of indecently assaulting 11 males will not be held before next February, Drogheda District Court heard yesterday. The court cannot hear the case as a prohibition order has been granted by the High Court pending the review. Insp Vincent Rowan told the court that some of the complainants were concerned that the matter was taking so long. Judge Brennan said that was understandable. Mr Robert Eagar, defending, said he hoped the case would be given priority for hearing in the High Court but the earliest date would be in February.
An earlier court heard it would take over a week to hear the case against the man, who cannot be named for legal reasons. He has pleaded not guilty to the charges, which relate to dates between 1963 and 1982. The case was adjourned until February 6th.
