Second rescue operation in Kerry

A rescue operation was underway in Co Kerry tonight after a youth became trapped on a high ledge on the Dingle Peninsula.

A rescue operation was underway in Co Kerry tonight after a youth became trapped on a high ledge on the Dingle Peninsula.

The young man's mother raised the alarm at around 6pm after her son became stuck over a lake on the Connor Pass.

Dingle Coast and Cliff unit and Kerry Mountain Rescue were mobilised.

Earlier, an 82-year-old woman and a 16-year-old boy were rescued by the Kerry Mountain Rescue Team.

The pair set off early yesterday morning on Carrantouhill in the McGillycuddy Reeks, Co Kerry but were reported missing when they failed to return.

The were located safe and well by rescuers shortly before 1am this morning.
