Retail sales volumes surged by 6

Retail sales volumes surged by 6.8 per cent in September compared to August, according to the latest figures from the Central Statistics Office.

If motor trades are excluded, the annual increase was 6.6 per cent and the monthly change was 0.9 per cent.

By value, retail sales rose by 7.8 per cent in September 2007 compared to the previous September and by 1.2 per cent in the month.
