Minister for Health James Reilly is on a week-long trip to China, where he is promoting Ireland as a destination for healthcare investment. He is also exploring opportunities for Irish health education facilities and visiting Irish pharmaceutical companies, according to the Department of Health.
Mr Reilly is travelling with his private secretary and parliamentary assistant and the visit is expected to cost €7,000 for flights and about €2,000 for hotels and car hire, according to a spokeswoman. The wife of the Minister’s parliamentary assistant is also travelling but her costs are being met privately, she said.
