Madrid - The Spanish judge behind the arrest of Chile's ex-dictator Gen Augusto Pinochet asked yesterday for a second round of medical tests by doctors appointed by Spanish courts, judicial sources said.
Judge Baltasar Garzon opposed the decision of the British Home Secretary, Mr Jack Straw, not to disclose the results of tests conducted by doctors in London.
Mr Garzon requested the Spanish government to send his legal motion to Mr Straw, who deemed the 84-year-old general unfit to stand trial after an independent medical examination.
Mr Straw has given Spain and other interested parties until Tuesday to challenge his decision before determining whether Gen Pinochet should be freed after spending 15 months under house arrest outside London.
