Officers at Cloverhill prison have uncovered an attempt to smuggle bullets into the prison.
A spokesperson for the Clondalkin prison said several bullets were found inside a pair of runners that were delivered to the prison last night.
Gardaí say the bullets were concealed inside the tongue of one of the runners which have been removed for examination.
