Pensioner escapes exploding gas cylinder

An 83-year old man escaped serious injury today when a gas cylinder exploded in his home.

An 83-year old man escaped serious injury today when a gas cylinder exploded in his home.

The pensioner was sitting by an open fire in his home at Henry Street, Roscommon at about one o’clock this afternoon when the gas cylinder next to it exploded blowing the roof off his house.

The man, who was uninjured, was taken to Roscommon General Hospital. He is believed to be suffering from shock.
