Pedestrian (73) dies in Galway crash

Gardaí in Galway are investigating a crash in the city yesterday evening that resulted in the death of a pedestrian.

Gardaí in Galway are investigating a crash in the city yesterday evening that resulted in the death of a pedestrian.

The incident took place on Renmore Road at about 6.30pm.

Tony Wheatley (73) of Dun Na Mara, Renmore, was seriously injured after he was struck by a motorcyclist.

He was taken to University Hospital Galway, but later died from his injuries.

The road has since reopened after being closed to allow a forensic investigation.
