Islamabad - Pakistan yesterday handed over a captured Indian fighter pilot to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), one week after he was detained in the disputed Kashmir region, official television reported.

Flight Lieut K. Nachiketa was captured on May 27th after his MiG fighter jet was shot down on the Pakistani side in Kashmir. The Prime Minister, Mr Nawaz Sharif, earlier announced the pilot would be released as a goodwill gesture to ease border tensions with India.
