I support both the Dubs and Manchester United; my son got involved with United, and then I got involved. We have some tickets here which we use for customers; now and then I get the use of them, and we pop over about four times a year. I watch games on TV as well, although overall, when you compare soccer to Gaelic football, it's not nearly as exciting because you're not scoring all the time. Watching two neutral teams can bore the pants off you.

Currently the worst thing about being a Manchester United fan is the threat of the BSkyB takeover; I don't agree with that at all, and I hope the Monopolies Commission has managed to stop it. I realise the club is a PLC at the moment, but it's not a PLC the way Murdoch would have a PLC. It would be a major business and be run as a major business, and that would take a lot of the sport out of it.

One of the best games I've seen was the Barcelona game, the three-all draw last year - that was an absolutely wonderful game of football. And the year before last, when they won the league, we were at the last game of the season against Coventry City; there was a festive atmosphere, everyone was in great form and Coventry joined in on the act as well. That was a great sporting occasion. To me George Best was the all-time great. It was fantastic to watch him dribble a ball down past a defence; he was just a joy to watch. He had everything: everything. On the current team, Keane is a marvellous footballer, and Irwin, of course - and I like the Yorke/Cole thing.

That's what Ferguson does for players, he brings this confidence out. When you think of the great tradition there is at Manchester United and the great aura at the club, you realise how great his achievement has been - I mean, I know what it's like to settle into a senior job. It takes you a good 12 months to know what you're at. So in a situation like that where they're demanding results by next Saturday, that really is one hell of an achievement.
