Men robbed at gunpoint in Belfast

Police in Belfast are seeking witnesses to an armed robbery in the city early this morning.

Two men approaching the night safe of a bank on High Street shortly after 2am were confronted by a man carrying a handgun.

He put the gun to the head of one of the two men and demanded the money they were carrying.

The robber made off with a "substantial" sum of cash, the PSNI said.

He made his getaway in a dark-coloured hatchback car in the direction of Bridge Street. Anyone with information is asked to contact police at Musgrave Street.
