Gardaí are questioning a man in connection with a shooting in the west of the city early yesterday that left another man in hospital.

The victim (26) of the attack had surgery on a leg wound at Beaumont Hospital, where his condition was described as "stable".

The shooting happened at Fortlawn Avenue, Blanchardstown, at about 6.20 a.m. Gardaí believe more than one attacker was involved.

The man in custody was held overnight at Blanchardstown Garda station.
