A man has been arrested in Belfast following a knife attack on a 14-year-old boy this evening.

A man has been arrested in Belfast following a knife attack on a 14-year-old boy this evening.

The boy is seriously injured in hospital with slash wounds to his face, neck and hands after he was attacked at the entrance to Belmont Avenue West at around 6.00 pm.

A PSNI spokesman said the boy's condition was not life-threatening.

He described the attack as an attempted murder. A 35-year-old man was arrested shortly afterwards and is being questioned by police.
