Man acquitted of attempted murder

A Lurgan man has been found not guilty of attempted murder. Mr William Michael Orr (33), unemployed, of Mourne Road, was charged at Armagh RUC station in April 1996 with attempting to murder Mr Thomas James Neville Aston.

It is understood the charge relates to an incident in which a man was stabbed in the stomach at Market Street, Tandragee, during the early hours of Sunday.

Clarification: Solicitors for Mr Orr have pointed out that he subsequently was found not guilty in Belfast Crown Court.
