A community activist from Dublin Central, Mr Kevin Devlin, has announced his intention to run in the forthcoming general election as a "community candidate".
A director of Premier Navan Road Credit Union and active in several community groups, Mr Devlin said: "Many people, all the over the country feel a sense of isolation at being overlooked by their public representatives". He said a "Gregory deal" (named after the Independent TD for Dublin Central, Mr Tony Gregory) could be achieved for the whole country with the "right coordinated approach by independent community candidates".
