Irish people travelling to France have been advised to be "extremely vigilant" because of civil unrest across the country.

In a statement issued today, the Department advised anyone visiting the Parisian suburbs of Val d'Oise, Yvelines, Hauts-de-Seine, Seine-et-Marne, Val-de-Marne, Essonne, Evreux and Aulnay-sous-Bois to be extremely vigilant and to avoid any demonstrations taking place.

The main train line from Charles de Gaulle airport (RER B) runs through some of the areas in question, causing the Paris city and suburban rail and bus authority (RATP) to alter some of its schedules.

Trains travelling through some of the trouble spots have not been running after 8pm on recent evenings, and the Department is advising travellers to check details prior to departure. Airport buses and taxis are running as normal.
