Irish stars David Gillick and Derval O'Rourke were in winning form at last night's international meeting in Budapest.

Gillick, after missing a 400 metres competition in Zagreb on Wednesday night because of flight problems, showed a sharp turn of speed in the Nepstadion to score a convincing victory.

The European indoor champion powered away from the start of the race to win in a time of 45.72 seconds ahead of England's Conrad Williams.

O'Rourke, who suffered a shock 100 metres hurdles defeat on home territory in last Saturday's BUPA Cork International meeting, bounced back with a solid display.

Last summer's European silver medallist, aided by a very helpful following wind of 1.3 metres-per-second, scorched down the track to record a fast time of 13.07 seconds.
