Man seriously injured in Roscommon town stabbing incident

20-year-old taken to hospital in Ballinasloe after incident in Castle Street car park at 11pm

Gardaí are investigating an incident in Roscommon town last night in which a man (20) was stabbed.

The injured man was taken to Portiuncula Hospital in Ballinasloe for treatment.

His condition was described as serious by a garda spokesman.

The assault took place at around 11pm in a car park on Castle Street.


The scene is being preserved by investigating garda so a forensic examination can be carried out.

It is understood that no arrests have been made to date in connection with the assault.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses or anyone who may have seen suspicious activity in the area at around 11pm on Wednesday to contact Roscommon Garda station on (0906) 638300, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any garda station.
