€39m EuroMillions winner comes forward to National Lottery

It is unclear if winner represents a syndicate or is an individual player

The holder of the winning ticket of last Friday's €39 million EuroMillions jackpot made contact with the National Lottery on Tuesday.

The person who made contact has decided not to go public with their huge win, according to a spokeswoman for the National Lottery who would not confirm if the holder of the ticket was part of a syndicate or an individual player.

The winner will now arrange a date in the next week or two to return to the National Lottery and collect their winnings.

The spokeswoman said there was more of a delay processing the EuroMillions win compared to the national draws as funds had to be transferred to Dublin from nine other European countries participating in the lottery.
