Industrial production for the three months from June to August was up by 1.5 per cent, Central Statistics Office figures show.

The CSO said the seasonally adjusted volume of industrial production for manufacturing industries from June to August was up 1.5 per cent on the preceding three month period.

On an annual basis, production for all industries in August was 5.6 per cent higher than in August 2005.

The 'modern' sector, which includes a number of high-tech and chemical industries, showed an annual increase in production of 7.7 per cent in August, while the 'traditional' sector grew by 1 per cent.

The seasonally adjusted industrial turnover for manufacturing industries was 3.0 per cent higher in the three month period June to August 2006 when compared with the preceding three-month period.

On an annual basis, turnover in August 2006 was 8.0 per cent higher than in August 2005.
