SAUDI ARABIA: Former dictator Idi Amin, who was accused of ordering the murder of tens of thousands of Ugandans in the 1970s, is out of a coma in a Saudi hospital but still in serious condition, doctors said yesterday.

The hospital had said Amin might not survive after he went into a coma last week.

Amin has lived in exile, mainly in Saudi Arabia, since being ousted from his east African homeland in 1979. Aged 75, his health had been deteriorating for some time. Under his despotic 1971-79 rule, tens of thousands of people were killed. - (Reuters)
