Extra training
• Train before you go.
• Check your insurance policy is adequate for what you want to do and that it covers your equipment.
• Make sure you have the right gear that fits and will keep you warm and dry.
• Maintain fuel and fluid while on the slopes - it's a good idea to take small snacks with you to consume at regular intervals throughout the day. The restaurants on the slopes can be very expensive.
• Don't forget your sunscreen - it may be cold, but the sun can be powerful at altitude.
• Warm up and down with some minor stretches before and after hitting the slopes each day.
• If you do hurt yourself make sure you seek advice from a registered medical practitioner as soon as possible.
• If you are unlucky enough to get hurt, then follow the motto RICE: Rest, Ice, Compression and Elevation.
• Don't continue skiing if you are too tired - you will only end up hurting yourself.
• Have fun.
