Liverpool have confirmed midfielder Steven Gerrard will join up with the England squad today despite damaging an ankle against Newcastle last night.
Gerrard looked in severe pain at the end of the first half when he caught his studs on the turf but played on until the 83rd minute.
There were fears he might have to withdraw from the squad to face Portugal in a friendly on Saturday.
Liverpool assistant manager Phil Thompson told the Liverpool Echo: "The medical people will assess Steven but he can travel to join the England party".
