The GAA have pushed back the final round of Allianz National Hurling League Division One A fixtures by seven days to ensure all matches can be played simultaneously.

Following the postponement of last weekend's Wexford-Cork clash due to a waterlogged pitch at Wexford Park, which resulted in widespread confusion as the fixtures piled up, the GAA have moved the entire Division One A schedule to April 9th.

All other hurling league fixtures will be played this weekend as originally planned, as will the postponed meeting between Wexford and Cork.

Today's decision also means the Division One hurling quarter-finals and semi-finals will be delayed by a week.

Meanwhile, a resolution to the ongoing impasse regarding Donegal's outstanding NFL Division Two A fixture with Longford has still to be reached with officials promising an announcement later in the week.

Longford have ruled out playing the game this weekend because of their under-21 team being in the Leinster final against Laois. The NFL concludes its programme of matches on Sunday week and the same problems relating to hurling would apply if the fixture is left outstanding.
