Four Islamic militants were jailed today for planning a terrorist attack at a packed Paris stadium in France during an international football match.
Police arrested the men the day before the 2001 match at the Stade de France between France and Algeria in raids of their apartments in working-class suburbs.
They moved in after intelligence agents bugged a phone call between one of the suspects and a member of an extremist Algerian movement.
In the raid, police found bomb-making materials, pistols, bullets, a bullet-proof vest and a tract written by Osama bin Laden.
