Five men arrested by gardaí investigating dissident republican activity and organised crime in Cork earlier this week have been released without charge.

The men – three aged in their 40s, one in his 20s and one in his 50s – were taken into custody on Tuesday following a series of searches at several properties in Cork city.

The searches were carried out by members of the special detective unit assisted by the regional support unit.
