A man has been arrested following the seizure of ecstasy tablets worth €60,000 at Dublin airport today.

A man has been arrested following the seizure of ecstasy tablets worth €60,000 at Dublin airport today.

The 18-year-old Irish man was stopped getting off a flight from Charleroi in Belgium and Customs officials discovered 3kgs of the drug, some 12,000 tablets, in his baggage.

He was arrested at 9.50am and handed over to gardaí at the airport. He was detained under Section 2 of the Drug Trafficking Act 1996 at Ballymun Garda station.

He was later released on bail and is to appear in court on July 22nd in connection with the incident.

The tablets bore a heart-shaped emblem, a Revenue Customs spokesman added.
