Dublin-based travel software company Elan Technologies which employs 60 people in Dublin has been acquired by a Dutch IT company specialising in the travel industry.

SITA Network is a leader in web-based applications for airlines and travel companies while Eland supplies customised transaction software in the same area.

Mr Robert Healy, director at Eland, said the two companies will complement each other and bolster the group's independence and strong position in the travel industry.

Eland includes American Airlines, United Airlines and Virgin Atlantic among its clients.

Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
