A decision on a dance licence for next weekend's Winter Party Dance Festival in Co Meath was reserved at Drogheda District Court yesterday.

The event's promoter, Mr John Reynolds, who is a director of Industria Entertainment Ltd, the company seeking the dance licence, was questioned by a Garda inspector about measures being taken to prevent drugs being taken into the event.

Garda Insp Gerry O'Brien told the court that some people were found to have illegal substances after the Homelands festival at Mosney on April 29th.

Mr Reynolds said everyone would be searched on the way into the event by 48 security personnel and anyone found with drugs would be handed over to gardai.

Judge Flann Brennan said he would give his decision on Monday.

Meanwhile, in 12 drug prosecutions arising from the last festival, Judge Brennan said he was giving the defendants one chance - he found the facts proven and dismissed the charges. Six people were fined for having ecstasy and/or cannabis.

He adjourned three other cases for probation and medical reports.
