Alan Smith and his assistant Ray Houghton have been sacked by English first division side Crystal Palace.
Chairman Simon Jordan made the decision after a run of just two wins in 16 matches by the first division strugglers.
Jordan said on cpfc.co.uk: "It has been a difficult decision because through all the disappointment there have been some very positive strides made forward within the structure of the football club."
Smith took over at Selhurst Park in August last year.
The final straw for the club came with a 2-0 home defeat by Wolves yesterday that kept them in the relegation zone in 22nd place.
Jordan said: "I thank Alan and Ray for their effort throughout the season and we all wish them the best of luck in the future."
Chief scout Steve Kember will now take charge of the team for the two remaining games of the season at Portsmouth and Stockport. - PA
