Thousands of commuters were delayed this evening after train services on the east coast were suspended while a man blocked the tracks.

The incident happened at Skerries in north county Dublin when a man lay on the rails and refused to move.

It is understood a train was stopped at the platform at the time of the incident.

Gardaí arrived after a half an hour and removed the man. He is being held at Skerries garda station.
