Washington - The Greek-Cypriot scientist Mr Panos Zavos said yesterday he was determined to proceed with human cloning, saying production of cloned embryos could come within two months.

"The production of human cloned embryos can go ahead within the next 60 days," the researcher told CBS television, "and implantation will of course come later, after we verify that the quality of those embryos is viable enough to yield a healthy pregnancy." Mr Zavos, a naturalised US citizen, and Mr Severino Antinori have announced plans to impregnate up to 200 women with cloned embryos.
