A 37-year-old CIÉ worker has been killed on the railway line near Dundalk, Co Louth

A 37-year-old CIÉ worker has been killed on the railway line near Dundalk, Co Louth. The man is understood to have been injured while shunting a passenger train at Clarke Railway Station some time before 10.30 a.m.

He was brought to Louth County Hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later. The Health and Safety Authority and the gardaí are carrying out an investigation into the incident.
