Dwain Chambers' coach Remi Korchemny has been indicted on charges relating to distributing steroids to professional athletes by a federal grand jury in San Francisco.

Korchemny, who lists Chambers, Kelli White and Chryste Gaines as three of his star athletes, was named along with Victor Conte, owner of California-based BALCO Laboratories, BALCO vice-president Jim Valente and Greg Anderson, a personal trainer to baseball star Barry Bonds.

The four, who face charges on 42 counts of distributing illegal steroids and human growth hormones, are expected to appear in court on Friday.

The indictment said: "While operating BALCO, Conte and others conspired to distribute performance-enhancing drugs, including anabolic steroids, human growth hormone (HGH), erythropoietin (EPO), modafinil, and various other prescription drugs, to dozens of professional athletes."
