The British 4x100m relay team have been stripped of their silver medals from the 2003 world athletics championships after Dwain Chambers decided not to appeal against his two-year ban for doping.

World athletics ruling body, the IAAF, said it had stripped out Chambers's results from each event he had contested since his positive sample was provided on August 1st, 2003.

Brazil are promoted to the silver medal slot behind the United States with The Netherlands taking bronze.

Chambers tested positive for the recently discovered designer steroid THG and was banned for two years in February.

His ban lasts until November 6th, 2005, following his decision not to appeal the ban to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

The other British athletes in the relay in Paris were Christian Malcolm, Darren Campbell and Marlon Devonish.
