Pretoria - A senior apartheid-era police officer said on Monday the government of the former president, Mr P.W. Botha, was behind the 1982 bombing of the London offices of President Nelson Mandela's African National Congress (ANC). Ex-police commissioner, Mr Johan Coetzee, told the Amnesty Committee of South Africa's Truth and Reconciliation Commission that the bombing was part of a campaign by the state to thwart forces fighting white minority rule.
