'Bomb' made safe in Donnybrook

A viable explosive device was found in Donnybrook, Dublin in the early hours of this morning.

Gardaí summoned an Army bomb disposal team to an address on Eglinton Road after midnight to examine the improvised bomb which was discovered under a car.

The area was declared safe at 2.30am without the need for a controlled explosion.

The device was removed to Cathal Brugha Barracks for further investigation, gardaí said.

An Army spokesman said it was the 200th time this year that a bomb disposal team had been called out.
