Blackburn manager Graeme Souness was hit with two disciplinary charges today relating to an incident during his team's Worthington Cup tie against Wigan in December.

The English Football Association (FA) said in a statement that Souness had been charged with "improper conduct" and "abusive and/or insulting language to match officials".

The alleged incidents occurred at Blackburn's 2-0 quarter-final win at second division Wigan on December 17th, when Souness was dismissed from the manager's dug-out.

Souness has 14 days in which to respond to the charges and if found guilty faces a stiff fine and a touchline ban.

The Scot was fined £15,000 and banned from the dug-out for three matches in October after a similar offence in August.
