Best is 'stable but serious'

The condition of former Manchester United star George Best appears to have stabilised, his agent said yesterday.

Mr Phil Hughes said: "George has been stable for the whole day. Obviously his condition is still very serious, and everyone is still very worried."

Speaking at London's Cromwell hospital yesterday, Prof Roger Williams said a change in medication had reduced Best's internal bleeding.
