Bail was revoked yesterday on a soldier facing a number of criminal charges after a judge was told he had failed to abide by a signing-on condition of his release terms and has been AWOL from his barracks for some time.

Private Patrick Murphy (21), Ferrycarrig Road, Coolock, Dublin, was charged with damaging a fast-food restaurant window in O'Connell Street and assaulting a garda on Sunday last. He was given bail on Monday on condition that he sign on daily at Coolock Garda Station, but he failed to do so on Tuesday.

On Wednesday, he was charged with being a passenger in a stolen car that same day.
