An off duty garda prevented the robbery of a Dublin filling station on Sunday night when he fired a shot in the direction of a would be robber. The detective was on his way to work when he pulled into the Belmont filling station on Sandford Road and foiled the robbery. One of the would be robbers produced a gun in the incident.
