Chandigarh - Forty-two people were killed yesterday when a truck they were travelling in plunged into a gorge in the north Indian hill state of Himachal Pradesh, an official said.

The accident occurred in Chakoli, about 250 km northwest of the state capital of Shimla, the Deputy Commissioner, Mr T.D. Negi, said.
