The Minister for Defence, Mr Barrett, presented commissions to 26 officer cadets at the Curragh yesterday. The 20 Army and six Air Corps officer cadets had completed 21 months of intensive training at the Cadet School, the Military College in the Curragh and the Training Wing at Casement Aerodrome in Baldonnel.

Mr Barrett inspected a Guard of Honour drawn from the 72nd Cadet Class under the command of Lieut Tom Ryan. The Chief of Staff, Lieut Gen Gerry McMahon and Brig Gen Pearse Redmond, Commandant of the Military College, accompanied him.
